A Flower Girl's Book

 When I was young, by young I mean my sophomore year of high school, I created an idea book out of magazines and a photo album I had lying around my room. I folded up any magazine page I could get my hands on that I found interesting. It was my first attempt at organized chaos and at finding me. For that I treasure it! I cannot believe how quickly time goes and how quickly we can lose ourselves in someone else’s influences. This book is proof of who I was, who I wanted to be, and who I am.

I just recently went through the flower book again after cleaning out my closet. I did toss things that had little value due to forgetting why I saved it, or something I had long since outgrown and lacked care for anymore. But I did save the majority of what mattered and even added some new pages in. Maybe in time, if I lose myself again or continue to change, I’ll find some nostalgia there…

Here are some pages that I was able to get a picture of. There is a lot more than this in this book.

A Dozen Dark Roses

I have tried and tried in my days to find other flowers to love, for fear of losing what originality I thought I had. But that was folly. What girl cannot love roses? So many colors to choose from and the sweet aroma equally as addicting, they are too lovable to forget. One trip to the flea market turned up an amazing rose discovery! There were buckets on racks filled with birch wood, handmade roses, and at a great price too. I had to grab a dozen before I left. lots of Black, Purple, one Yellow, one Brown, and one Green! I love the colors I chose. They even wrapped them up like you would at a florist.

 These people are very nice and helpful with picking out the perfect flowers, as well as telling stories about other buyers. According to them, black flowers are becoming more and more popular nowadays. That, at least to me, is nice to hear.

Sketching away from Sadness

Sometimes, art can be a release from the saddening things in a day. I enjoy getting covered in pencil soot and rubbing my hands across the tortured page on which I create the image flowing through my head or in front of my eyes. A couple days ago, I had one of these moments and it was quite productive if I do say so myself. I am not much of a 2-D artist, but nevertheless, I felt a sense of fulfillment. It has even come to my personal attention that art can be better than a trip to a resort, for it is more relaxing and less of a guilty pleasure.

And I drew;

-A Bird Skull Pendent from Harry Potter (I have a pendent like it from Hot Topic)

-A Wine Party

-A overly knotted Hand holding a Truffle (I call it the “Troll Hand”)

I am not much of an artist with a pencil, but I still love to sketch away!
